A few months back the federal trade commission opened
up an investigation concerning if the UFC has monopolized the MMA business. The
recent purchase of the second biggest promotion in MMA, Strikeforce, has forced
the FTC to open an investigation. This is not the first time the UFC has purchased
one of its competitors. In the past the UFC has bought out many of its rival’s such
as Pride, WEC, World Fighting alliance, international fight league, and now
Strikeforce. The UFC obviously is running some sort of monopoly but according
to UFC, (Zuffa) ownership recognizes this idea as ridiculous. Only recently the
FTC has closed their investigation.
